Makeup Fix

I'm no expert on makeup at all, BUT remember that post I did a few months back regarding the oh so fabulous Cara who's behind the rockin' beauty blog, maskcara.com? {Read that post here} Quite a few of you reached out to me telling me that you were so glad to have been told about her! Yay! Well I've been following her for quite some time now (I mean almost a year...that's a long time right? ...kidding) and over this past year I've made some changes to my daily make-up applications. It's mostly been experimenting with different products. If you go to her blog {here} she has a link at the top titled 'Beauty Index' {here}...and that is my best friend and will probably become yours, too. I am constantly scouring that thing. It's full of beautifying-greatness. One of the things that I love about Cara the very most is that she usually always tries to provide you with 2 options when purchasing products {here}...the amazing, expensive, splurge-if-you-can option, and the closest to amazing, cheap, drugstore option that is still pretty decent. I love that she tests them all and gives her honest opinion. She realizes that as perfect, flawless and dreamy some products are...they can cost an arm and a leg, and maybe even your first born child... and some of us may not want to spend $100 on some eye shadow or a new brush so she gives us other options. I am really starting to love makeup...but I'm not ready to spend major $$$ on it yet. I spend enough on Dollie as it is! But I still want to try new, fun things and broaden my makeup collection. So with that I decided to share some of the products she has tried and loved, that I too have tried...and love! I guess it's my test of her tests...or something like that. So here goes!

**The following bold headlines are clickable links for products details!**

1. Maskcara IIID Foundation/HAC Pack - This was majorly new to me. It's a cream-based foundation that glides on smooth and flawless. I have LOVED it. I have always done the basic concealer/powder application so to try a cream foundation was kinda scary. I am so glad this was my intro. Besides the newness of the cream application, the other new part was learning to highlight and contour. WOW. Where have I been? Go {here} and watch the video on Cara teaching about this concept specifically with this product. Trust me on this one. The HAC Pack also comes with the most beautiful illuminator for cheek/brow bones, and the best cream blush that also works great for a little lip color!

2. Cover Girl Perfect Blend Pencil in Mink: If you watch any of Cara's video's or view any of her 'before & after' makeovers {here} it is very rare for her to not use this pencil to line the lip to give a more full lip look. It's so simple, and can be found at pretty much any drugstore. I picked it up at Target.

3. NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sugar Pie: Another recommendation from Cara. Just a really pretty shimmery gloss, alone or on top of another color.

4. Maybelline Color Sensational- The Buffs- in Nude Lust: Cara has done a phenomenal job in the nude lip category. This is one that she highly recommended a while back and I snagged it at Target. Love it!

5. Mirabella Pure Press Powder Foundation: I am patiently waiting for the IIID Foundation (above) to restock the medium. (So excited!) Until then I have just been doing my basic powder application and only use my last remaining specs of IIID medium for special occasions and for my concealer. Back when I was in cosmetology we got a huge kit from Mirabella and I just keep going back to some of their items. I really like this powder. It works great for me! I also use a lot of their makeup brushes.

6. Benefit They're Real Mascara: I had heard from lots of different people, and read a lot of reviews about this mascara. I have never spent more than like $8 for a tube, so to me, this was a bit of a splurge. I have had it for 4 months and it's just now needing to be replaced. I LOVE IT. I use it every day, and although I have never actually been asked if my lashes are real, I only need one swipe, maybe 2 if I want it more dramatic, and I am set. It really does lengthen your lashes, and it STAYS ON! I sleep in my makeup (I know, I know...) and it hasn't smudged one bit when I wake up. The flip side to that is you would think it is a pain to clean off, right? Wrong. It comes off super easy with a quick wash. I just love it. I will be getting another tube for sure.

7. Flower Glow Baby Glow Blush-Bronzer Duo in Gloriously Golden: This is another rockin' rec from Cara. Gosh I love this stuff. Its Drew Barrymore's new line exclusively found at Wal-Mart. I know Cara likes both the Gloriously Golden as well as the Beachy Keen, so you are good to go with either! I like a more pink (rather than peach) so the golden is what I have and it's so good!

8. L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara: I got this tube, along with They're Real, at about the same time. Cara recommended it as a great drugstore find, and one that she uses often. Although I use They're Real much more, I do love this one as a backup. The difference, to me, is this one leaves your lashes more soft and move-able, where the other is more stiff. This one takes longer to dry, and it also smudges on me really bad. It takes more effort to clean off for some reason, but it is my go to drugstore mascara for sure. Best I've tried.

9. Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Champagne Fizz: This is such a pretty color for your base shadow. Its soft, and goes on very smooth. Cara recommended this for a nice drugstore shadow, and I use it daily!

10. L'Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner in Blackest Black: This was a new experience for me. Its a pot of liner with a small brush. I love that it is super black and stays on really well. It does take time to get use to, but its fun! I do love my pencil, but this is definitely nice to have in my bag. Plus it's gonna last me forever! (Another Cara recommendation!)

11. e.l.f small angled brush: Cara has talked about the e.l.f products quite a bit. I use this brush for my brows. Its so cheap and works great! No need to buy an expensive brush when a cheap one will work just fine!

12. M.A.C Eyeshadow in Brun: While you are ooh-ing and awe-ing over all of Cara's before and after's on her blog {here}, you will notice that this is an ABSOLUTE MUST for your brows! She kept saying over and over and over that it is just so good, and is like a chameleon that works with everyone! After hearing about it from her forever, I finally got it a couple months ago! She was right, go figure. This is a great, great brow color. It goes on sharp and defined. It is really easy to apply with that small angle brush! (above) This was another little splurge for me...$16 for one tiny eye shadow pot...but its gonna last a loooong time! I really love it and will keep it in my bag at all times!

As you can see I really haven't "splurged" on anything. I think I paid the most for the IIID foundation HAC Pack, They're Real Mascara, and MAC Brun...and they weren't even that much money. But like I said, it was new stuff for me and I was so use to using basic stuff. I really like these items that I have listed and I hope you will try some of them and love them, too! If you do, come back and leave a comment telling me what you think! And please, if you haven't spent time on Cara's blog, do yourself a favor and GO CHECK IT OUT! >>>WWW.MASKCARA.COM. Every girl needs a little pick me up sometimes, and getting a new tube of lipstick, or eye shadow is so fun! If you have any products that you absolutely LOVE and are a must, please tell me what they are! And in case you are wondering what I am planning on getting in the  near future...here is what I have been eyeing!
