Utah + 2014

I feel like I haven't even had time to blog over the past month since we left San Diego. I am making it a point to get in one last post before 2014 ends and 2015 begins.

It's been an insanely crazy, busy month full of traveling, exploring new places, packing, unpacking and re packing suitcases, and spending time with family and friends. We first went straight from SD to Spokane where we spent 5 days in the comfort of our own home (first time in 6 months) and it was heavenly! Dollie made herself right at home exploring every room on every floor. We spent Thanksgiving with some of our best friends and it was such a great visit home; much needed.

(Heading to SLC, and in the air over SLC)

We headed to Salt Lake City on Monday the 1st of Decemeber and were greeted with decent 50 degree weather that lasted for the first couple weeks we were there. We got checked into our new hotel aka "home" that Monday night and Bodie left immediately the very next morning for the rest of the week. Him leaving town so quickly was a bit of a surprise that we didn't really prepare for which meant Dollie and I didn't have food bought for that week and Bodie took the rental so we were a bit stranded. Luckily the hotel was able to take a grocery list from us and get us everything we needed until Bodie got back. Not to mention the hotel has a killer hot breakfast buffet and serves some delish dinner 3 nights a week.

That first week was basically spent waiting for boxes to arrive, unpacking them and moving into our new temporary place, and going on scavenger hunts to track down other boxes that ended up at random places. I also managed to snap a few photos of Dollie outside our hotel.
The second week Bodie was off to Yellowstone for the week and Dollie and I joined him. We spent our time roaming the streets of W. Yellowstone and visiting any of the shops that happened to not be closed for the winter. We also spent a couple days visiting a Grizzly and Wolf discovery center. It was a fun little trip and was nice to be able to explore a new place.

We got back from Yellowstone early that Friday and went straight to my first pregnancy appt where we were able to finally confirm that I am in fact pregnant! Yay! Bring on baby #2. The next day we spent time downtown at Temple Square seeing the lights and later that evening I was informed that my big sister Heather had unexpectedly passed away. That was a very rough night and following week.

The third week was spent partly back in my home town visiting my Mom, in Salt Lake with my Dad, and also in St George with Bodie for a few days while he worked. I was able to keep busy tending to Dollie and helping out with funeral planning. I was asked to get a dress for Heather to wear in her casket and also to do her eulogy which kept me busy planning and preparing.
The fourth week was spent in our home town for Heathers funeral as well as Christmas. It was a hard start to the week with the funeral which was easily one of the most difficult days of my life, but did get better as we were able to spend Christmas with both mine and Bodie's family for the first time in 6 years. We also decided to tell everyone we are expecting which was a lot of fun.

This fifth and final week since we left San Diego has been spent in Moab for a couple days (again, for Bodie's work) and the rest still in our home town where we will be ringing in the new year this evening.
See what I mean? Non.Stop since we flew in. I am ready to get back to Salt Lake this next week and really settle down. We could keep going though, just depends on Bodie's work. When we were in San Diego he always returned in the evening. Every single day. But being here in UT isn't the same and the work is all over the place which means he is constantly traveling for 2-5 days at a time every week. I like to go with him so that he can at least come home to us at the end of each day. The only problem is that he doesnt stay in extended stays on the road so we are constantly eating out. Those of you who know me know that I don't cook much, but I can honestly say that I am ready to make some dang dinner and other yummy things! Truthfully, I am ready to be in our own home. Not in a hotel. Being at the Grandparents this past couple weeks has really been so great for Dollie with all the space and more rooms that one.
Most of you know that our house is up for sale in Spokane and we are really looking forward to moving to UT permanently at some point this year once that sale happens.
Lots of changes happening in our lives right now! It's pretty exciting and fun! Bodie has started training again for his 2015 ironman race schedule. I think he's got about 5 races planned, full and half mixed. I'm just kicking it with Dollie and this new baby that I'm cooking haha. I have actually been quite nauseous this time, but totally bearable. As my family and husband can attest to, I have been taking lots of naps and taking advantage of other people being able to watch Dollie as I do so. Sure do appreciate the help! Being closer to family has sure been a real treat. I think lots of people take having Grandma's and Grandpa's nearby for granted, as well as other family members, too! It has been really different than when it was just the 3 of us in San Diego, but we are embracing it the best we can, and it's not hard doing so.

2014 was an amazing year! We spent the first 11 months of it living in San Diego in the sunshine surrounded by beaches.

I was able to take Dollie with me to UT numerous times and I spent more time with family than I had in the past 5.5 years.

Dollie turned one!

Bodie turned 30!
I had my first Mothers Day, and we conceived our second child.
We were able to pay off some debt, save lots of money, and do some really fun things in California.
I snagged a new hobby of taking pictures of Dollie with a more professional camera and also started this blog that I love!
...and also became a little obsessed with fashion for Dollie, as you may have noticed.

In the end we ended up in UT where we were born and raised and have missed since the day we moved 5.5 years ago.

I'm pretty sure 2015 is really going to rock with all that we have planned and all the things we don't have planned, too! I hope you all had a fabulous year and I just want to say thank you for stopping by and checking out Dash of Dollie, whether it's been often or even just this once. It's been a lot of fun for me and I am looking forward to some new things I have up my sleeves!

Happy New Year!!!
